Art Project 2014

ART PROJECT 2014 DETAILS

MMHA is again organising an Art Project for all students up to and including Transition Year in Post Primary Schools in Monaghan. We are asking for a group or class project in the form of a piece of art or sculpture, maximum size 4 x 4 feet, using materials of your choice. We are offering substantial prizes for the Art Departments of the winning schools. The prize fund is as follows:

       1st   -  €500 and a perpetual trophy
       2nd  -  €300
       3rd  -  €200

Schools may enter more than one project.
We are suggesting a number of themes from which you can choose with an emphasis on promoting Positive Mental Health. This year’s suggested themes are:
  • A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step
  • Every cloud has a silver lining
  • Happiness is an inside job
  • However great the flood, it will ebb.
Each entry should be accompanied by a Word or PowerPoint presentation (maximum 300 words) explaining choice of theme, interpretation, the process of creating the piece and feelings about the completed work. Photographs may be included. A professional artist will judge the entries.
The Closing Date and prize-giving day is Wednesday 7th May 2014.  Entries can be delivered from 2pm and at the latest by 5pm to the Westenra Arms Hotel, Monaghan on the day and can be removed after the prize giving ceremony which will take place at 7.30 pm. All students, parents and teachers are invited
We ask that schools which intend to take part should confirm their interest by April 11th 2014 by text to 086 3908504 or emerbrennan@eircom.net.
